I am Deborah, also known as Beppie, an animator based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I work part-time as a carpenter and handyman. Born and raised in a small village on an island I was always wondering how it would be on the opposite side of the water. In 2020 I finished the Bachelor of Design at Design Academy Eindhoven. During the bachelor I taught myself to animate and put my storytelling skills to use when I found myself stuck at home, completely burned out. Slowly during years of recovery I created my first stop-motion movie 'Temporarily Unavailable'. This movie opened up a new world for me and during the Master of Animation at AKV St. Joost I researched the usage of animated documentaries to inform people about vulnerable topics such as mental health. With my graduation movie 'Ja, Boeie' I want to shine a light on the LGBTQ+ community in a way that every human can relate to it. My goal is to create animated documentaries that make people feel seen, make them feel heard and make them feel loved.
